Triton Esports: A Journey of Growth and Triumph

University of Guam, April 16, 2024 – The University of Guam Tritons Esports team is poised to make history as they advance to the Divisional Finals for the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) in the Varsity Plus I division for Overwatch 2. This remarkable achievement marks the first time the Tritons have reached such heights in this competitive tier, underscoring a significant milestone for both the team and the University of Guam.

Ken San Nicolas, esports manager, attributes the team’s success this semester to their unwavering commitment to improvement. He remarks,

“The journey from not winning a single game last semester to now competing in the Divisional Finals is a testament to the team’s dedication to the process. Their focus, analysis, and faith in our structured improvement plan have propelled them forward. They serve as an inspiring example to all teams within Triton Esports.”

UOG Overwatch 2 vs Redlands University


The Tritons will face off against Redlands University on Wednesday at 12:30 PM in a highly anticipated showdown. Their journey to the finals, finishing the season with an impressive 7-1 record, speaks volumes about the team’s hard work, dedication, and talent. Coach Joseph “Turtles” Rosario expresses his pride in the team’s progress, emphasizing their journey as a catalyst for growth, both individually and collectively.

“I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come this semester, and I have complete confidence in our team! Regardless of the outcome, our journey will fuel our growth as a team, individually and collectively, setting new standards for excellence in our organization.”

As we prepare for the finals, we remain determined to apply our learnings and emerge victorious.”
